Island Park Drive: Iconic by Nature
Island Park Drive is a scenic parkway that reflects the capital’s vision of beauty, connection, and civic pride. Maintained by the National Capital Commission (NCC), this tree-lined boulevard stretches from the Ottawa River to the Central Experimental Farm, offering residents and visitors a unique blend of natural splendour and heritage character.
Originally conceived in 1903 as part of a plan to beautify the capital and connect green spaces, Island Park Drive embodies harmony between city life and nature. Its broad median, mature trees, and thoughtfully designed streetscape make it a standout in Ottawa’s urban landscape.The Drive is home to historic residences, embassies, and families who share a love for its peaceful charm.
